Yesterday on Love My Dress there was a debate about ‘the right’ of couples to have their ceremony photographed in church. My feeling is that the jurisdiction is entirely the officiant; they are the representative on earth for their higher power, whatever faith. This has much to do with house rules respect as it does for religion. However – and it is a colossus of a however – how much do I do a happy dance when I know a bride has got a great photographer who knows the benefits of being in the circle of love, sharing great photos & blogs them.
Guy Collier is hardly an international man of mystery. I have never met him but Sharon Roberts, hair legend, tells me is “yeah alright” which,in a broad London accent, is high praise indeed. Guy is the go to choice for lots of Miss Bush brides and I am always delighted with their choice. I see a record of the day that is a sensitive blend of relaxed naturalism, reportage & the classic mantelpiece shots.
I am quite happy to not have seen a couple’s face as they exchange vows – even the congregation get the back view. A fact that leads to more discussion about back detail on the dress in the shop than I care to mention!
As it happens Sam’s dress, an exquisite Jenny Packham gown called Nicole, has back, front & side detail. It the perfect blend of opulence and understatement with Edwardian fantail beading and the most heavenly open back with iridescent tramlines of shimmering Swarovski crystal. It is a perfect dress for Sam’s rather perfect figure.
All brides deserve to have a beautiful dress & an amazing wedding in a fantastic venue. Much like Guy Collier, Wasing Park is a mystery to me in person but it really captures the imagination of couples – a barn, chapel & accommodation on one site. More than most brides Sam really deserved her beautiful day to her handsome groom. I do not deserve the automatic right to see all photos because Miss Bush supplied the dress but I am so glad I did.
The arguments that kick off online about contemporary wedding photography are fascinating. Paying money to a good photographer ( not a venue recommended one necessarily) is however unquestionable.
