To be an American in London, a US bride the in the UK and a former florist it was not surprising that Jane was drawn to Miss Bush by the images of beautiful shoot flowers created by Gayle Evans of Bloomingayles. Gayle has always been inspired by ground breaking US florists, and whilst bigger is not always better, do we love American wedding flowers.
It was a brave, bold, beautiful choice using bright yellow hair flowers as a Miss Bush home page image but it drew Jane to both Miss Bush and to Gayle.
Jane is one of those brides that you know from first meeting is just cool. Not all rock star poses, the kind of girl you could go to a festival with. Great taste, artistic, very laid back and, like most of my fangirl subjects, clever & resilient.
Jane deserved her Jenny Packham dress. If that sounds a bit #firstworld justification I don’t mind a bit. I think Mums to small babies should have the right to wear Packham for their Herculean efforts. When you add in a pregnancy that wasn’t the easiest Jane is probably entitled to a dress a year.
I loved helping Jane. From the first visit where we settled on Jenny Packham’s Esme to the second visit where the Nicole dress had arrived which blew our minds to the third hastily added visit to check the right decision had been made.
It had. Nicole is exquisite. Classic soft silk satin shift overlaid with platinum and silver beading in radiating lines and & Art Deco inspired fan tails. The plunge V neck is matched by an open back covered with a single layer of slashed tulle.
It is best worn by girls with neat boobs – Reader it’s not for me. The nipped in waist band and slim fluted skirt make it supremely flattering and easy to wear. Again, not for me, but for many.
Jane’s wedding was subject to the wettest weather & here’s why she’s cool. Jane’s take on it
My wedding was wonderful, although a lot of the pics aren’t what we wanted… basically it absolutely CHUCKED it down with rain ALL.BLOODY.DAY. We struggled to get outside to do any proper coupl-y pics, and the rain didn’t ease until very dark lighting. 🙁 Never mind the fact that the DJ completely screwed up our playlist, Pete forgot to ask the DJ to play music during dinner (he had ONE thing to arrange… ), the fire brigade was called (Smoke machine, what?), and many, many other issues. But at the end of the day, my dress was gorgeous, my brilliant, charming, loving groom was there, my son was absolutely adorable, and we were surrounded by people we loved. Perspective.
If this is not a salutary lesson in learning to dance in the rain I don’t know what is.
I believe there is a Rock the Frock shoot in the offing, I think the dress deserves a second outing. It would be lovely to see it twinkling in sunshine but I love the photos anyway.
I also am eternally grateful to the Miss Bush Circle of Love that pulls in like-minded clients that make work so effortless & you meet women you’d just like to hang out with.
Thanks to Jane & Pete for sharing your photos x
