I love the Ladbury girls and they love Zakynthos, the beautiful gem of an island that has beautiful secluded places alongside the bustling teen destinations. Both Georgia and her sister Hannah have got their wedding dresses from Miss Bush . Both married in Zakynthos. Both had lightweight chiffon dresses befitting the climate and location. They differed wildly, as sisters do, in how they interpreted the look. Hippy-luxe or out & out glamour it has been an amazing privilege to work with the family.
I received the most gorgeous letter from Georgia thanking me for my help – so much so that I am sharing it in full! Something I barely ever do but it is a testament to the transformative power of a wedding dress…
“Dear Emma and everyone at Miss Bush who helped in making my wedding day so wonderful.
It’s been just over two months since I married Roy in a Greek olive grove wearing the most beautiful dress I have ever had occasion to wear and feeling like an absolute princess. So I think it’s about time that I sent you an email to say thank you for all that you did for us!! Every contact that I had with you and your staff was just wonderful, from start to finish, and I am truly grateful to you all.
I wasn’t really looking forward to shopping for a wedding dress as I invariably feel dowdy and frumpy in whatever I try on. get self-conscious and too hot struggling in and out of things in changing room, and generally hate the whole idea of clothes shopping (most of my clothes are in fact Hannah’s cast-offs). So the idea of having to try things on in front of a bunch of people without even my usual shell of privacy to protect me didn’t appeal in the slightest. Neither did walking into a room full of white dresses and having to somehow pick one that “stood out”…it seemed like an impossible, overwhelming task.
BUT: your shop is a completely different ballgame. I knew already from having been to try on Hannah’s bridesmaids dresses that it was a beautiful shop and a relaxed atmosphere, so that helped stem my a bit – but still, I was nonetheless bowled over by my first visit there as “a bride”. I’m not sure you remember Emma, as you doubtless do this every day, but I picked out a few frocks myself and felt quite nice in them all (quite nice is good for me on a shopping day) – and was kind of happy to go with any one of them – but before I plumped for one of them, you asked me to try on the Belle…. It didn’t look much on the hanger and I wasn’t that enthused, but I thought I’d humour you – and as soon as I put it on I felt like a superstar. And I never stopped feeling like a superstar whenever I wore it! Without you, I would never have found it, never have tried it, and never have had that feeling – not then, and not on my wedding day. And who wants to feel anything less than a superstar on their wedding day?
From that moment on and throughout all the following appointments – stylings, fittings, refittings, etc. – everything at Miss Bush Bridal has been absolutely first class. From the range of dresses available, to the accessories and the shoes, to the alterations and the needlework, absolutely nothing was wanting and above all the service was always relaxed, honest, upfront, warm, and fun. I loved going there! I remember the sweltering hot July day when I picked up the dress, that apart from being happy to finally take it with me I was also sad that I would no longer be having trips down to Ripley to spend time with you all swanning around in my lovely dress 🙂 .
The wedding day was absolutely magical – simple, beautiful, and something that Roy and I will remember the rest of our lives. Of course I’m supposed to say that I would have married Roy in a bin bag if I had to (and I would have), but my goodness am I glad that on such a special day I had such a special outfit! I got loads of comments from people asking me where the dress was from, and others telling me that I looked radiant – I suspect that was partly from love and having just married the best man ever, but it was also definitely partly the Belle 😉 . Although pictures can’t capture exactly what that day meant for us, our photographers nonetheless managed quite well – so I am happy to invite you to follow the link below and see “The Vision” as put together in Ripley come to life! If you’d like to put any of them on your blog, then please do, but be sure to credit .”

Unfortunately these are not the professional photos as the photographer refused to share them with me on the grounds of my unprofessionalism on social media. This is something I have questioned and disputed and have had no reply to. I would like to thank the Ladbury family for filling in the blanks.
I have seen the official photos and along with Georgia’s letter they would have had you in floods of tears.
