Hello!
We’re off to the seaside this morning for Rachel and James’ fun and relaxed Camber Sands Wedding.
Rachel wore Jesus Peiro 7017 from the 2017 collection. For a similar gown, check out 8062 and 906 from the 2018 and 2019 collections.
Over to Rachel to tell us more about her dress shopping experience and give us all of the details about their wonderful wedding day:
THE DRESS
I wore Jesus Peiro 7017, with an added bow on the back and no underskirt. I had three separate appointments where I tried on “The One”! The first time I tried the dress was at Miss Bush, with my mum, future mother in law and sister in law. I loved the dress, and my mum cried, but I was having so much fun dress shopping that I wasn’t ready to be done. I went to a few more stores, and tried on that same dress elsewhere when all my bridesmaids (3 sisters and 1 friend) and my mum were present. It was way too many, they all had differing opinions, and I didn’t feel special at all in my JP 7017 in that store. Eventually I came back to Miss Bush, with my mum and a selected two bridesmaids, tried on several more dresses as well as 7017. I still loved JP 7017, but also another one, forcing me to choose again! In the end, I just felt that extra lift in this dress. Couldn’t really explain it, but everyone said there was just something extra about my smile, the way I walked in it. I absolutely LOVED my dress.
I loved everything about dress shopping! Trying on exquisite masterpieces worth thousands of pounds, with a glass of champagne in hand and your favourite girls – what could be better! And the Miss Bush ladies quickly became some of my favourite girls! Also, real, proper, customer service. All the Miss Bush ladies were so knowledgable, not at all pushy, everything was possible – for example I really liked the dresses with bows at the back, but my 7017 didn’t have a bow…”Jesus Peiro could make you a bow in the same material” says Corinne. You’re basically able to construct your perfect dress using a base from the most brilliant designers.
STYLING
My dress was quite simple, with the back being the main feature with its ballerina straps and bow, and the material was beautiful. I decided to keep the bling to my feet, and had some beautiful bright pink manolo blahniks – a bit unconventional but I loved the contrast! I also had diamond earrings borrowed from my MIL, and a simple, thin cathedral length veil to give me that real bridal look. I had a delicate dried flower crown in my hair which I had made by a lady on Etsy to go with my bouquets. I spent AGES deciding what colour to have my nails, I just couldn’t decide! In the end I went for blue, again unconventional, but I loved having those splashes of colour in my bridal look.
ABOUT THE DAY
We wanted quite a relaxed wedding, and for it to be a massive party with all our favourite people. We both love the beach and the sea – I was quite up for a wedding abroad but James wanted the UK. Camber Sands was the first place we went on holiday with James’ family, and had a really lovely time. I stumbled on The Gallivant and just thought it looked absolutely perfect. I didn’t think there was any particular style that I was after, but looking at the pics now and how it developed, I clearly do have a certain taste! I’d say it was a mix of boho, pretty, natural styling.
I loved the whole day, but walking down the aisle and seeing the look on my grooms face was amazing. I was very teary for the ceremony and vows – we decided to write our own, which felt a little daunting but I’m so glad we did. It was so nice to have the personal touch, as well as saying all the solemn vows that you see on TV and imagined saying since being a little girl! Our speeches were hilarious – a bit below the line, but hilarious, and it was great seeing everyone laugh. I also decided to do a speech myself, again nerve racking, but so glad I did – it’s not often you get to tell jokes about your new MIL in front of a crowd and get away with it!
ADVICE FROM THE BRIDE
Words of wisdom…try on everything, don’t take photos, and don’t take too many people. I took one photo of myself in a wedding dress in the first shop I went to, and I ripped myself apart. It’s definitely not a good idea – you will look beautiful on the day! Also, not everyone has that “The One” moment – I really loved quite a few different dresses, and there really are so many beautiful wedding dresses, but something kept drawing me back to this one, so I went with my gut. And even when you’ve chosen it, still don’t take a picture! All you’ll do is start questioning your choice, comparing it to others, and wandering “what if etc.”. Trust your decision, and the pros at Miss Bush can and will ensure it is everything you dreamed of.
SUPPLIERS
Bridesmaid Dresses were from Rewritten, which the girls absolutely loved.
I had a video made by an Australian videogarpher, Lemon Tree Filmhouse. They were amazing and I highly recommend! They don’t charge any more for travel if they’re already in the country!
My photographer was Emma at Epic Love Story and did all my amazing photos.
