Carey Sheffield, Nicola’s photographer, paid the Miss Bush production team the greatest compliment. ‘I love shooting your brides, the dresses always fit the best…’.
Almost daily I learn the highs & lows of different wedding suppliers. From the logistics of a croquembouche, the trials of a hair trial to the fact that photographers have to work round a bad fitting dress – the message is load & clear. Use a professional.
I am frequently asked why brides are charged for alterations. The answer is simple. The dress is one product. The fitting and alteration a completely different product. Most dresses are supplied standard size. Few brides are. The craft & expertise to fit a dress and the dark art of alterations are the service that elevate a wedding dress from ordinary to outstanding.
Not only do the photographers love it, they can focus on capturing the moments, life, light, love and laughter that will be seen by generations but brides too will not have to be shift in discomfort, hold up hems or wondering if the vicar just saw too much!
As much as I would like our team to take all the credit, as Senior Bush says somewhat disconcertingly, ‘you can’t make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear.’ To be clear – I am talking about the dresses! Season after season Maggie Sottero produce dresses that capture the bridal zeitgeist, are cut impeccably and are easy on the budget. Nicola is wearing Bronwyn, a bias cut slip , with a corded lace over dress. The ensemble captures everything that is so ‘now’ and yet so timeless. Honey tones in the slip bring an antique quality to the dress that sits against te mellow stone of The Tithe Barn.
Two words – ‘feature back.’ Strong last year in bridal style, growing across the mainstream this year. Covered, plunge, keyhole, illusion – with the dropping of draping a new ‘must-have’ emerges. Bronwyn has a keyhole back, capped sleeves & a portrait collar. So much to love but still so effortless.
I love Nicola’s hair, I am always nicking Gypsophila from arrangements to put in brides hair on styling appointments. A few sprigs & zero sparkle works beautifully with her look. I also love that she has kept her blunt fringe. Great wedding hair doesn’t have to be over complicated & keeping your signature style is essential.
Thanks so much to Nicola for sharing her photos, the wedding is picture perfect
