The reputation of Jesus Peiro in the UK as one of the go-to designer labels for British brides is growing season by season as each collection gets stronger and stronger. As the UK’s original stockist, we’re delighted with the latest collection and are so excited to share the stunning editorial images with you today, ahead of our Trunk Show which begins next week – click here for more details.
The Jesus Peiro secret is designing wedding dresses that are recognisably bridal yet feature sharp details, exclusive Italian fabrics and edgy touches that make a bride feel at once classic and cool.
The 2018 Metropolis Collection channels the looks that Jesus Peiro has pioneered and that brides love. The sharp clean lines of collared dresses, the crisp cotton piqués, the signature pockets and the sheer lace overlays are all there to be adored.
Why does the Catalan label feel so right for the UK bride in 2018? From Sonar, romantic city breaks, stylish hen weekends and football pilgrimages to Camp Nou; Barcelona is a city that feels familiar, stylish and liberal. The astounding Gaudi architecture, the super yachts, the Ramblas and the shopping have made it a favourite short break destination for Brits. Barcelona Bridal week is one of the most inspirational global exhibitions for international buyers. The Jesus Peiro catwalk show is standing room only with the fash-pack crowding the front rows.
The 2018 season collection didn’t disappoint; the Metropolis catwalk backdrop echoing the connection between modernist and art deco architecture and fashion. As Coco Chanel is often quoted as saying “Fashion is architecture: it is a matter of proportion” and Merché Segarra, the creative genius behind the collection, is one hell of an architect.
Unique to the 2017 collection and showing strongly in the 2018 collections is the firm, fitted high waist cummerbund. Leg lengthening, waist defining and bust enhancing, yet easy to wear, and without the restrictions of a traditional corset dress this can be seen in dramatic remakes of silhouettes like the 8004; lace and taffeta reimagined. The feature is used in the uber minimal 8002 with the illusion of a suspended skirt right through to elegant city crepe styles like 8040.
Soft fluid dresses get a graphic twist; the whimsical 8008 has swathes of tulle modernised by polka dots. The cloudy, romantic 8015 is sharpened by stripes within the lace.
New features like tiny baby-doll sleeves breathe new life into the formulaic cap sleeve: cool coverage for that top arm area that brides get so anxious about. Merché has added this to 8070 which also has the high waist, classic tulip skirt and dramatic back detail.
Short haul, destination brides wanting to wander barefoot on beaches will adore 8049, 8055, 8058, 8061, 8063 or 8075. Romantic tiered skirts and off the shoulder necklines take inspiration from 70s icons like Stevie Nicks, Angelica Huston and Bianca Jagger.
For a quintessential British church wedding replete with a marquee, striped sweeping lawns & cut glass accents, we love s 8032. Textured fabric modernises the classic boat neck and box pleated skirt and the signature Jesus Peiro flourish-of-a-bow softens the strict lines.
Brides loving modern oak barn venues and relaxed outdoorsy weddings will love the 8064. It is the epitome of modern relaxed style. Opaque chiffon, a fluid flattering skirt and a cold shoulder brings daywear trends in to big day wear.
Fans of the halter collared signature Jesus Peiro look will love its revised 2018 dresses. Both 8007 and 8039 bring new ways to wear one the brands favourite looks.
There are two standout dresses for the Miss Bush team. The first is the exuberant, gravity-defying, ruffled 8042. In cotton pique, a matt fabric that gives big skirts a fresh modernity, the dress harnesses the heart of a Flamenco dancer and the soul of a new romantic. This is certainly not for the faint hearted but for the bold head-turning bride.
The 8060 is made from a superb, graphic cotton lace. Geometric but soft, exquisitely cut, sexy in a modest way, using folksy fabric to dress a modern muse it is a mass of contradictions. The effect is breath taking and we feel sure that British brides are going to fall for it.
British boutiques love working with Jesus Peiro for their truly customer focused ethos. Old fashioned notions of extremely long order times are cast aside for responsive deliveries meeting the demands of a 21st century bride that would like to plan a wedding in months not years.
There is an incredible made to measure service that is unbeatable at their affordable-luxury price point. The quality is faultless and the dresses are delivered with all the pretty packaging, keepsake boxes and bags a bride could ever want.
At Miss Bush we are passionate about the traceability and provenance of wedding dresses. It is important to know who makes your dress, where and why sometimes luxury made to order products have a higher price tag than off the peg dresses. Over the coming months the team aims to go behind the scenes with some famous names to tell the story of the design, craft and sheer commitment to perfectionism that this entails.
Jesus Peiro has been awarded the OEC Seal. This involves the company’s whole processes from start to finish; from research and development, raw materials, components & logistics, being audited by external specialists. Both brides and boutiques can ow that their dress are authentically and solely of Spanish origin. Jesus Peiro is currently the only Spanish wedding brand with such a distinguished and ethical accreditation.
It’s possible, indeed likely, that Jesus Peiro’s working practises won’t be the first thing on a bride to be’s mind when falling in love with their dresses. How lovely to know, though, that conscious, couture style is at the heart of the Metropolis collection.
