It’s sunny, I’ve been shopping and the shops are awash with hits of coral from the softest peach to eyeball assaulting neon orange. Browsing through my blog posts there is only one choice for a bright and shiny day and that choice is Lulu.
I have been avidly watching the social media streams from the New York Bridal market and the US is still gunning for low backs, sheer over skirts, plunging necklines and floral appliques. Style me Pretty has rounded up the trends in this post. It makes me ever so happy that my brides, like Lulu, were already wearing this last year. I’m not saying they are the coolest early adopters and a fashion buyers dream…
Shallowness aside Lulu’s wedding at Kew gardens is at once quintessentially British, a stunning iconic location and of course the weather not quite delivering. Stoicism and a fabulous venue will never let rain stop play and the wedding is every bit as wonderful as if the sun was beaming.
The dress is Tara Keely 2353. Tara Keely is part of the JLM stable of labels based in NYC and the dress features classic New York style details. The trumpet shape mikado skirt is overlaid in soft tulle finished with the Stateside signature ‘horsehair’ hem. This involves no horse or hair but is a deep band that weights and bounces the hem and holds the sheer layers away from the underskirt. Pure glamour!
I have a very lovely excerpts from Lucinda’s thank you email to share,
“I knew from the second I got engaged that I wanted to buy my dress from Miss Bush (having had a handful of friends get them from you and also experiencing the ‘dark side’ of other wedding dress shops). My experience was perfect from start to finish – you are knowledgeable, friendly and most importantly honest. The process was a dream and other than wanting every dress I tried on it couldn’t have been more stress free.”
Lucinda adds…
“It fitted like a dream on the day and looked magnificent in the big outdoors of Kew Gardens”
…and it certainly looks fabulous with the breezy veil shots and easy elegance. One word of caution for bride to be – horsehair hems and sheer fronts and backs are not easy to fit. As much as we LOVE this dress the fitting hours on it made it uneconomical and we had to withdraw the style *sobs wildly* No one really wants to spend over £600 for what is in fact a very straightforward job because if the built-in level of difficulty. A word to the trade/designers – consider how you shorten a dress. How about sending the hem trims as separate items as standard?
Complexity aside the dress is a gem and Lulu and with a clearly smitten husband. It was lovely to help Lulu and she even drove Tegan and Corinne to Battersea for brides The Show as she was going that way!
All our love and thanks for sharing the photos of the day!
