We haven’t blogged a Maggie Sottero real bride in a while so we’re delighted to share this beautiful and oh so cool Glaswegian wedding with you today, featuring Miss Bush bride Laura wearing Maggie Sottero Darla.
Laura and Nick were married at Òran Mór in Glasgow, a former church turned quirky fantastic arts and entertainment venue.
The Dress
Laura’s dress was Maggie Sottero Darla. With delicate illusion lace covering the arms and back, this sleek figure hugging dress features a flattering v-neck, nipping in at the waist with a dazzling swarovski belt, finally flaring out into a stunning scalloped train.
Laura tells us more about her dress choice;
“I had no doubt in my mind the dress I wanted. I saw it online, and then researched places that sold the dress close to London.
It was a stroke of luck that I stumbled across Miss Bush who so happened to be having a sample sale that weekend, and my dress was one of the dresses on offer.
I went to Miss Bush with my mother-in-law to be and they brought the dress down. When I put it on I felt many emotions, I knew it was the one. I bought it there and then!”
“My mother in law Margaret came with me to see the dress. When I put it on she said she couldn’t imagine me in any other dress, and I agreed!
She had tears in her eyes too, which was the reaction I secretly hoped for 😉
What was your favourite part of the dress shopping experience? To be honest I am not someone who likes being on show, so my favourite part wasn’t so much on the shop floor for the big reveal when they pull the curtain back, but more the little back room they take you in to be fitted to the dress.
It was then that the dress started to feel like my own, when they are pinning it to your curves and no one elses. It feels much more personal in that moment.”
Laura accessorised her look with a simple cathedral veil and a Swarovski necklace and earrings.
“I was also honoured to wear Nick’s grandmothers mink stole and diamond bracelet.”
About the Day
Laura and Nick’s day was really original and quirky, thanks to their cool, effortless style and their incredible venue.
Laura tells us more;
“We knew we wanted something a bit rock n roll. We both work in the music industry, and so getting married in a music venue was very fitting. We felt we got the best of both worlds, Oran Mor used to be a Parish Church so we got the magic and atmosphere of a church wedding but with our own quirky twist.”
“We chose to have the Secret Opera Singers perform during the meal section of our day. At one point when the singers were singing Nessun Dorma we looked around and everyone had tears in their eyes and smiles on their faces and Nick and I caught each others gaze and smiled.
It was at this moment we realised how lucky we were to be surrounded by the people we loved on such a special day.”
Final Words
Some words of wedding planning advice from our bride, Laura;
“I think every bride-to-be has a gut feeling of what she wants to look like on her big day, so I say follow your gut!
For wedding planning, try not to get too bogged down with the minor details – truth is no one will notice them on the big day! The main thing is that you and your husband are confirming your love for one another in front of family and friends, and that is all that really matters.”
