On the blog today we’re so pleased to share real Miss Bush bride Katie’s beautiful winter barn wedding. Katie and Sam were married in January this year at Rivervale Barn in Yateley near Surrey.
The Dress
Katie chose to wear the elegant and glamorous Sundance by Maggie Sottero, in champagne. With a dramatic illusion back, bateau neckline, glimmering metallic lace appliques adorments and soft tulle skirt this is truly a unique and memorable statement gown.
“I took my Mum and Sister with me to choose my dress, the Sundance was there for advance previews and i think it was the second dress i tried on. Corrine helped me accessorise it with a headpiece and veil. My family loved it with lots of gasps and cheers. My sister in law was outside and when they called her in for a grand unveiling she burst into tears… so i knew i was onto a winner!”
“My favourite part of the dress shopping experience was choosing the dress, we had the shop to ourselves which made it very personal and Corrine was great, helping me try a range of dresses so I could see all the types of bridal looks I could go for. It was clear the team loved weddings, which added to the excitement of the day.”
Katie accesorised her look with a headpiece custom designed by her sister-in-law, owner of Grace & Folly, made from freshwater pearls and swarovski crystals. She finished the look with a champagne coloured veil and some pearl earrings gifted from her husband-to-be on the day, which went perfectly.
“My flowers were in subtle hues of orange, pinks, creams and green to match in with the vintage look. I attached a locket with pictures of my grandmothers to the stalk of the flowers, so in a small way they could be with me on the day.”
About the Day
Katie and Sam opted for a fun and relaxed wedding day with a vintage feel, with magical fairy lights and lots of personal touches to make their day extra special.
Katie says;
“It was winter so lighting was really important and we covered the venue with candles and fairy lights, matching them in with warm rustic colours or orange, champagne, blues and greens flowers. We also made our own table plan, out of fairy lights and little photos of everyone.”
“For centre pieces we used logs, candles and jam jars of flowers, which I had wrapped lace around. For the centrepiece of the centre table I put the bridesmaids flowers and my flowers in a row along the table in jars… which looked great, kept them fresh and really showed them off.”
“The ceremony was my favourite part of the day, I will never forget seeing Sam’s face as the doors to the ceremony room open. The congregation had all cheered him before I arrived and the atmosphere in the room was electric with excitement. We spent the whole ceremony laughing and crying. I had written a reading for Sam with my Brother in Law and surprised Sam by reading the last two verses myself. I don’t think there was a dry eye in the house!”
Final Words
Some words of wisdom from bride Katie…
“If you find yourself getting stressed or worried about the small details of the day, step back and remember what they day is about. You won’t notice tiny details on the day as you will be so excited to just be with your partner and be surrounded by all the people you love.”
“On the wedding day don’t forget to take a moment at each point to stop, step back, take in what you are seeing and enjoy the moment! Have an amazing time – it really was the best day of my life!”
