As we come to the end of 2016, I decided to interview the core Miss Bush team and find out which moments have stood out for them, their highs and lows, what they’ve learnt and of course their favourite dresses from the past year!

1

Here’s what I found out…

Tell us a bit about your role at Miss Bush:

Emma: MD, stylist and sales consultant with a bit of Aunty Bush/shoulder to cry on/psychiatry for good measure.

Corinne: Shop Manager. No two days are the same for me. I spend the majority of my time with our lovely Brides in the chapel trying on dresses, gossiping and wedding planning. I often finish the day at the computer answering emails! I also liaise with designers on behalf of my Brides with special requests and oversee each of my Brides orders from the very beginning to when they collect days before the wedding.

2

Rosie: I’ve been at Miss Bush around 2 months now and I’m starting to take over all things client experience related, from initial appointment requests, sending out fabric swatches, booking in fittings and dealing with any calls and queries on a daily basis. I have also been taken on the task of ‘Flood Administrator’ dealing with all flood related paperwork (of which there have been mountains!) I’ve also been shadowing and training to do sales appointments very soon!

Your favourite dress this year and why:

Emma: Jesus Peiro 6000 has blown us all away with its modernity and simplicity but I have favourites from every designer! Kirstie from Maggie Sottero, Bexley from Sottero Midgley, Honor from Sassi Holford, Castelao from Yolan Cris. Niagara from Atelier Pronovias, my own dress from Suzanne Neville, My favourites are not always the bestsellers but they are loaded with personality!

Corinne: AAHHH there are too many!!! I love Suzanne’s structure, Jesus Peiro’s designs, Maggie Sottero’s lace……

I help Emma with the buying and love them all for their own reasons! If I were getting married tomorrow I would be in a big skirt (to hide my curvy bum!) and long sleeves.

Rosie: Houghton Cassadee – Love the layers, the fabric and that it’s so effortlessly cool and untraditional. Also it kind of reminds me of the Lanvin Dress from SATC when Carrie does the Bridal Shoot. Plus this dress is the perfect excuse for a significant investment in some amazing shoes.

Any moments that have really stood out for you this year?

Emma: A negative to positive was walking in and finding the shop flooded and having to dig deep to find the will to carry on! A perfect moment was marrying Marshy.

4

Corinne: Emma getting married was the highlight of my year!

Rosie: Well my first week in the business was ‘flood week’, so yes that was a standout moment walking in on a Friday morning to standing water!

Have you learnt anything new this year?

Emma: 50 really is the new 40…

Corinne: Be positive and don’t sweat the small stuff. I work with and meet so many amazing, wonderful, strong women every day. It really helps to put things in perspective if I’m having a tough day. A little smile goes a long way.

5

Rosie: If you look after you better, your work will be of a higher standard. If you are travelling over 80 miles a day round trip, working 15+ hour days and nights, you’re not the best version of yourself and neither is your work. After making a significant change in my career, as corny as it sounds – my life is already significantly happier, healthier and better, therefore so is my work!

Your favourite wedding that has appeared on the blog this year:

Emma: Sometimes the weddings that blow you away are the most unexpected, some of my favourites are only on national blogs so far. Sassi Holford’s Marilyn on Amy has got to be a high point as we learned together to trust our vision more than social media which she then ironically totally owned! (Image below by SE3 Productions. Corinne: Hardest Question to answer! I get on so well with all of my Brides but one blog post in particular stands out to me and that is Lucy in her Jesus Peiro 6000 dress. I will never ever forget her lovely Mum waving her card at me the second Lucy came out in her dress insisting it was the one she had to have! Also the whole styling is just amazing, from the tartan PJ’s to the beautiful south African Backdrop. Every time I browse over our blog I chuckle while remembering our first appointment together! Rosie: Amy in the Sassi Holford Marilyn – What an amazing dress, combined with brilliant styling – the whole wedding looked so much fun!

Any other events you’ve attended that you really enjoyed?

Emma: Barcelona, Barcelona, Barcelona – despite this year’s horrible weather getting away and being submerged in pure design is always a huge treat.

Corinne: Our buying trips every year are exciting as you see the new collections and trends for the next season.

Rosie: Our Suzanne Neville Designer Day was such a good experience, it was my first time meeting Suzanne and I was a bit of a star struck at first! Everything from the flowers, to the brides, to the canapés was all so fabulous!

7

Bridal trends that you’re looking forward to for 2017?

Emma: I am looking forward to the development of our new labels, Houghton, Atelier Pronovias and Yolan Cris with their city smart, global glamour and haute hippy vibes respectively. I will continue to adore my home team of Suzanne Sassi and Jesus Peiro and pulling the obscure gems from the Sottero collections

Corinne: I feel like dresses are getting a bit more daring and edgier. I love how Brides are throwing away the rule book and going for something that represents their personality and style.

Rosie: Love the effortless, alternative, city bride look, basically any and every Houghton dress!

8

What are your plans for Xmas/New Year?

Emma: Feet up, a Bake Off challenge for Marshy and my emptying nest full up again!

Corinne: Christmas is split between Christmas morning at home with my Boyfriend then round to Mum’s for Christmas Dinner and a sleepover with my Sister’s! We have family stay over so all three of us squeeze into the tiny box room in matching Christmas duvet covers and Pyjama’s. We refuse to grow up!!

Rosie: Xmas I’ll be with the boyfriend and the family, whilst New Year as always will be reserved for dancing with my girlfriends – either somewhere fabulous in town or in someone’s living room!

I hope you’ve enjoyed this behind the scenes interview from the team!
