We’re very excited to share this post today, as it features our first ever Yolan Cris real bride! Emma chose to wear the Barcelona labels’ ‘Castelao’ gown for her Surrey wedding to husband Tom in April this year.
The Dress
Emma’s dress choice was Castelao by Yolan Cris; a folksy boho inspired wedding dress, with high necked, long sleeved crop top blouse and skirt over a simple slip. With endless overlapping lace and high quality silk, this is a truly exquisite and unique gown.
Emma says;
“My sister Victoria came to the first appointment with me – she said try it, (the Castelao) the first one I put on. We knew instantly, the feeling and the look was like nothing I have ever seen on a bride and I felt amazing in it.”
“I loved the fact it was a blouse and skirt….No tight corsets or restrictions, it was so comfortable. I tried on 8 other beautiful dresses but never got that ‘feeling’. Hate to sound cliched but when you know, you know!”
“My favourite part of the shopping experience was walking into the Aladdin’s cave of Miss Bush – it was the most beautiful place to shop! We had less than 4 months until the wedding but I knew that if I didn’t find it at Miss Bush, then I would start to worry. Everyone kept saying, oh you haven’t found your dress, oh dear but I knew Emma would have something amazing.”
“Exploring all the amazing dresses with my sister was so special, there was all the time in the world….no rush or time limits. Emma was so welcoming and helpful – she worked me out within 5 minutes and guided me towards the dresses that would suit me and my style without me even knowing it!”
“I styled the dress with just a veil – the dress was so beautifully detailed and the accessories had to be minimal. Same for hair and makeup…..less is more!”
About the Day
Emma and Tom’s day was very much a fuss-free, family affair, and the stunning church location followed by a marquee garden party reception made the perfect setting for this.
Emma tells us more;
“We wanted a relaxed, straight forward day. No theme or colour scheme. Lots of flowers, blossom for Spring and an inside/outside Victorian garden feel with herbs and pots galore. Oh and cake and sweets…..and giant balloons.”
“My favourite part of the day was walking to church, knowing all my favourite people were inside. It was so special knowing Tom was in there, waiting for me. It was serene, walking across the green, dodging puddles and trying to avoid the next rain shower.”
Final Words
Some words of wedding planning advice from our bride Emma;
“Don’t sweat the small stuff….there is so much that really doesn’t matter. You don’t want to look back and cringe at the way you behaved or the things you worried about. Keep calm and don’t lose sight of the important stuff – the marriage. Listen to the pros….they know what they are talking about, particularly Emma at Miss Bush for the dress and Emily at Two Many Cooks for just about everything else!”
