All the years I have tried to stop the rise of the trainer as acceptable footwear for a wedding and out slinks my girl crush Cara in diaphanous, sheer sparkles and her PE shoes.
I am glued to couture shows. My addiction has been assisted by Pinterest and the ‘save as’ function. Whilst joyous non-wedding dresses abound over my boards, with the yellow habit featuring significantly, I feel honour bound to highlight bridal.
Jean Paul Gaultier’s collection was every kind of whimsical & also featured a go-gay-for crush Dita Von Teese. The inappropriate Cher-does-Vegas bride would horrify so many MOBs I just had to feature it.
Elie Saab was awash with eminently weddingy red carpet dresses, diffuse them all into ivory and the well-heeled would be wed-ready in an instant.
My favourite shows so far have been Valentino & Dior. The Valentino collection featured none of the brands signature red which may upset purists. Some of the prints were a but jungle inspired for my taste – a walk on the Prada-wacky side. The grunge palette, with a shot of dirty yellow lace, & the perfection in both fabric & cut would make this Eur0-Millions winners wardrobe.
Dior was so contemporary in the use of cut and fabric that a bride may struggle to see the inspiration, fearing it too fashion. The layering, laser cutting, necklines and dip hems are all features I would love to diffuse into bridal and the classic monochrome palette is timeless.
Now excuse me while I choose my winning lottery numbers. All images from Vogue. Click here to obsess along with me
