Yesterday I was buying Autumn Maggie Sottero dresses with the ever lovely Corinne by my side, hunting through their collections to find the dresses that are very Miss Bush. They very often aren’t the bestsellers, the dresses that are going to be used in advertising or the dresses that are *ahem* ‘inspired’ directly by an upscale brand!
The dresses Corinne and I look for are dresses like Becky is wearing, Boston, it, for us, was the perfect combination of glamorous silhouette and yet laid back styling. Sometimes a battle of will was required to get it on – horizontal frills can seem all kinds of wrong – but as Becky impeccably demonstrates it was a fabulous dress.
I am talking about Boston in the past tense here because we rather over-loved it and the sample was looking very ‘tired’ so we retired the dress. Also, and this is a very modern phenomena, once a dress has done well in a season there is every chance of it becoming over exposed. Such is the fickle nature of bridal fashion that a straight answer to the question ‘have many brides bought this dress?’ is not possible. As wedding photography gets better and better, very often a vast improvement on the designer’s look book images bride are popping up on blogs in our favourite dresses and bestsellers meaning that future brides while being inspired don’t necessarily want the self-same dress. In short we are going to have to become faster moving, more Zara-esque, in our boutique collections. A fashion challenge so exciting & diverse I am utterly thrilled by it!
Tiers of corded lace soften the outline of a gentle fishtail and the smooth lace strapless bodice was a forerunner of the edgier ‘separates’ look that is slowly and surely gaining acceptance.
Hand tied flowers, a groom that looks like he has stepped off the pages of GQ and the sunny laid-back French location a the perfect tonic on a grey and over cast day like today. If UK brides truly want to capture that outdoors vibe without the danger of a rain and windswept Tipi making national news a jaunt further south in Europe is definitely recommended
Mellow stone and a vintage Citroen provide the quintessential Gallic back drop to a very beautiful couple and what looks to be a fabulous wedding.
Thank you Becky for sharing some of your favourite images of your day.
