Our lovely bride Alice today opted for not one, but TWO dresses for her idyllic summer wedding to her husband Ben last August.
The wedding took place at Ben’s local village church in Burghill, Herefordshire, followed by a marquee reception in the grounds of Brinsop Court in Herefordshire.
The Dress
Alice’s first choice was 5021 by Jesus Peiro, a crisp and contemporary gown with structured full skirt, box pleats, clean lines and simple round neckline with a glittering embellished waistband for a touch of sparkle.
Alice says;
“I was so spoilt for choice I couldn’t decide on just one. In the end I went with a Jesus Peiro dress for the ceremony and drinks reception, then I changed into a Jenny Packham dress for the wedding breakfast and evening. I absolutely adored both dresses and they were both perfect for the part of the day when I wore them.”
“I felt like such a bride in the Jesus Peiro, it was perfect for a church wedding and I knew I’d never get an opportunity to wear a big white dress again!”
“My mother and my sister came with me to look for dresses, my mother was definitely hoping for a traditional style dress and she adored the Jesus Peiro. My sister was brilliant for being completely honest and knowing exactly how i wanted to look and feel. It was a really lovely experience to have them both there and have their input for such a big decision and such a special moment.”
For the reception Alice switched to her second dress, Bardot by Jenny Packham. With soft draping and stunning diamante detailing, this gown is as beautiful and iconic as the legendary screen siren who shares its name.
“The Jenny Packham was the dress I’d imagined myself wearing, it was perfect for the evening as I could move and dance in it and it felt so glamorous and I loved the 20’s vibe with all the beading.”
Alice accessorised her look with a delicate Jenny Packham hairband which added just the right amount of sparkle, along with a bracelet of her mothers as something borrowed, earrings which my mother bought me as a wedding present, and the watch that her parents bought for her 21st. When it came to switching dresses, Alice kept the same accessories but switched shoes to update her look, opting for electric blue (as her ‘something blue’) Louboutin’s with her Jesus Peiro and a beautiful pair of green velvet D&G sandals made the perfect match for the Jenny Packham.
“I absolutely adored the whole experience at Miss Bush. The fact that there are so many beautiful dresses, i felt totally relaxed the minute i walked in (the bubbles might have helped) because i just knew that i was going to find my dress amongst all the gorgeous options. As it happened, i found two!”
About the Day
Alice and Ben wanted their wedding to feel relaxed and informal, but still be really beautiful and elegant. We think they’ve achieved this perfectly!
“It was important to us that we both felt entirely comfortable on the day and that all our guests had as much fun as we did. Essentially we just wanted the wedding to feel natural and ‘us’. We wanted soft, pastel shades for the general theme, with the bridesmaids and the flowers, and included lots of lavender for the scent as a reminder of where we got engaged.”
“The piece de resistance was the sweet table, I have a ridiculous sweet tooth, and we wanted it to be a truly indulgent nod to all things bad for you, and included all our favourite childhood treats.”
“It was such an amazing day from start to finish. The whole of the service in the church was amazing and also quite surreal. We drove ourselves between the church and the reception, in one of the few patches of sun for the day, driving the country lanes with the top down and the sun shining was a lovely moment for the two of us together just after we had become husband and wife. I also loved the speeches, and walking into the marquee was wonderful with all our family and friends there to celebrate with us.”
Final Words
Some words of wisdom from our bride Alice…
“Don’t panic, the dress will find you. I was starting to get nervous when we visited Miss Bush because this was my third bridal shop visit and i was struggling to find a dress which felt special enough, then the minute we walked in I knew it was all going to work out perfectly.
Wedding planning in general is so stressful, but the best piece of advice I received was to just relax and enjoy it and that anything that wasn’t perfect on the day wasn’t going to matter. From somebody who had the most horrendous storm you’ve ever seen, which brought down 30ft trees outside the marquee, took out the electricity to the marquee and drenched half our guests, I can genuinely say, it won’t matter on the day!”
