Our wedding today took place on the prettiest Cornish beach, with Alexa and James getting married in September earlier this year. The theme was rustic sophisticated country, with just the right combination of laid back and sparkly!
The Dress
Our bride Alexa chose to wear Jesus Peiro 6017, an ivory Cotton Pique wedding dress with a full ballgown skirt, elegant crossed straps at the back and a big beautiful statement bow to the waist.
Alexa tells us more;
“It was an absolute dream to wear and I still get goose bumps when I think about it now. I truly felt like a real wedding dress and I just loved every minute of wearing it. I love the bow, I still have it sitting on my bedside table now. “
“I brought my mum to my appointment with me, and my maid of honour who is my cousin and my bestest friend. I totally trust her taste, she has style and has always been my mentor when it comes to fashion. My mum cried….she never cries! My cousin’s face just lit up and they both looked so excited and apparently I bounced out the changing room completely differently to how I did with all the others I had tried on.”
“I have to say that Miss Bush really did make it a truly unique experience for me. I found my dress in one day and although I will never do that again, I feel like Miss Bush met all the expectations of wedding dress shopping and more.”
Alexa kept her look very simple, accessorising with a full length veil borrowed from a friend, fresh flowers in her hair and bright coral shoes.
About the Day
“We got married in Cornwall which is home to us both and where we grew up and went to School, although we both work and live in Surrey. We were married in Ludgvan Church and the wedding reception was held at Splattenridden Farm, near St.Ives, home to my family, where I was very fortunate to grow up. The marquee was in my favourite field, known as the Rhubarb field.
We were very lucky to have the weather on our side, it was very grey and had just stopped raining when I went into the church and then when we came out there were bright blue skies and sunshine, this meant that we were able to go and pictures taken down on Marazion beach with St.Michaels mount in the background. My favourite place in the world.”
“Our wedding theme was sophisticated country! And that is why the textured cotton Jesus Peiro dress worked so well, it was everything I was looking for, classic, sophisticated but with a twist. I had so many comments and it was not what my friends were expecting, which is what I loved about it!
I like a bit of structure so I went for long tables and blue and white stripped runners with deep pink and dusty pink flowers and I know I wanted to incorporate gold as well. I also went for went for some big white balloons to give the marquee some height and they worked brilliantly.”
“My favourite part of the day was probably the church service, walking down the aisle with my dad, this is the moment you always imagine as a young girl, when you dream about getting married one day. The service was beautiful, sincere yet fun and we had all our favourite people there to celebrate our marriage with us. Oh and we had ice cream outside the church……my husband’s family make Ice cream in Cornwall!
The speeches, my Dad’s speech was so special and straight from the heart, he did so well to hold it together all day, he is the softy in our family. Josh speech was also lovely and made me realise just how lucky I was to marry such a special man.
I truly loved every minute of it really, it is so hard to pick a moment because it was all so special, I made such an effort to make sure I was present for every minute so I could soak it up and store in my heart for ever.”
Final Words
Some words of wedding planning advice from our bride;
“Have some time off before your wedding to forget about work and really get into the swing of it, it’s not just about the day but everything leading up to it and practice soaking up the moment.
Remember its your wedding day your own going to wear it once and make sure you feel like a princess in it. Go crazy don’t think safe.”
Suppliers
Finally, Alexa shares the team who helped make their day so special;
“Kirstin Prisk did all the photography. The photography for me was really important and I knew that I had to find the right person. Kirstin will capture the day how it really happens, he is not one for staged! His photos are incredible.
I also had my wedding filmed by Luke Pilbeam, Rockingstone Weddings – AMAZING – we can’t stop watching it and I still cry everytime.
Anna from Wedding Flowers Cornwall did my bouquets and hanging flower balls.
And my mum was star organiser and kept me going and on time with all the details.”
Thank you so much to Alexa and Josh for sharing their beautiful, special day with us!
