miss bush website

This post may end up being a love letter to young people, more specifically, young women.

I actually don’t know another woman who can build a website from the code up apart from Leah Spicer of Golden Apple Designs. I know women that can tamper with templates, update text. I, myself, fall into that category. It maybe just my sphere of experience but I have paid a lot of money, well into 5 figures, for off the shelf sites that have been coloured in yellow, at least two companies that have gone bust – one involving a protracted debate about the ownership of our domain name. Often I have been patronised by men for asking, what I now know to be, pertinent questions. I have been shafted by charlatans and have had more wool over my eyes than a Southdown Sheep. I have waited. And waited. And waited… Until the updates I briefed in were out of date.

As a retailer my consumer will expect my site to have something in common with other luxury & high-end high street brands. It must have new content if not daily then certainly weekly. It must feel like an experience as much as the Miss Bush shop must be experiential in person. I have read widely, thought long and hard about the relationship between my online persona, that of Miss Bush and the shop itself. Finally Leah delivers it…

Should you empathise with my prior ordeal then know Leah is for hire. There is only one of her. It will not be possible to get instant access. My advice would be to get in the queue, on the waiting list, on standby. I am working on human cloning, I could make a fortune offering the services of a woman who knows IT, the wedding industry, social media and design in equal measures.

The other young women( and Sharon)  I would like to fawn over are my creative collaborators. From models to photographers, needlewomen to knowing women, stylisters & write-listers, cookers & cakers; bloomers to blushers; bread-heads & eggheads, bouffanters to baublers; women  have been prepared to give of their time for faith in a project. I have covered costs but the genius was given free. In return I have been able to put in a word, when asked, to my brides. Who seem to appreciate this…

You’re the absolute guru of weddings & your advice was invaluable. What a breath of fresh air. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Not only that – but you were so instrumental in making my big day what it was, through connecting me with the wonders that are Elbie & Gayle. OMG – what a star pair. They were both spectacular on & before the day. I don’t know what on earth I did to deserve all of their & your support, but I’m incredibly grateful. You are a bunch of heroes. True.

I now have, what I consider to be, a great shop window. The virtual equivalent of a thousand square metres of plate glass to show case what I please and who pleases me. The aim of this, solely, is to be inspirational to independent, individual brides who want brains & beauty in equal measures.
