Earlier this year I decided that I would offer VIP appointments. Chargeable, catered, private and at convenient evening times. My very first appointment was booked by Sue, Ellen’s Mum, who duly paid in advance and, oddly, I found myself a bag of nerves. Charging for my time, even at 7pm seemed rather alien. Despite the fact I am rather knowledgable about frocks, despite the luxury of privacy & the stillness of the shop in the evening I was wondering if I was worth the money.

What does a girl do in circumstances like this – get candles, canapes & fizz of course. Dazzle with my hospitality and bonhomie.

Should I have been nervous? No – of course not. Ellen, her Mum and sister Laura were stressed from work, hadn’t eaten dived into the bijou buffet. One collective deep breath and all was calm and relaxed.

I am so delighted to have been involved with the entire King family on the run up to Ellen’s wedding. From the first fun intimate appointment, to the rowdier ‘team’ appointment for bridesmaids dresses & finally helping Sue with her own dress. The Miss Bush girls Tegan, Gen, Corinne & I plus all the seamstresses have in some way been instrumental in kitting out what has to be one the most deeply photographic families ever!

I had a lovely thank you from Ellen

“I just wanted to send you all a quick email to say thank you so much for all of the help you gave me during the planning for our wedding and for helping me pick the perfect dress, bridesmaid dresses and helping Mum get a beautiful mother of the bride dress!  Also for all of the general wedding planning guidance you gave me – from when to lift the veil and who should be doing what to flower colours!!

The whole experience was so much fun and I knew that I didn’t have to worry about a thing as far as all of the dresses were concerned as you had it all in hand!  Even my Dad commented on how organised, friendly and helpful everyone was when we collected the dresses!

On the day I just loved the dress and the veil and it all felt completely perfect!  So many people have said how beautiful all of the dresses were as well.”

Ellen’s wedding was held at the renown Great Fosters in Egham, one of the handful of venues of which I only ever hear marvellous reviews.

On a purely shallow note – is this not the glossiest, most perfect ‘half-up but way more glamorous’ wedding hair ever?
